To the eight who defected: read the these words, as borrowed and repurposed from the resignation letter of Hagen Scott, then an Asst. US Attorney for the SDNY, who refused to be complicit in dismissing charges against NYC Mayor Adams. Maybe you volunteered or “took one for the team” (which team? not the one for which we voted).

"There is a tradition in public service of resigning in a last-ditch effort to head off a serious mistake. ... Someone who is enough of a fool, or enough of a coward, [would have chosen or agreed to do as you did]. But it was never going to be me."

Mr. Scott had a moral choice to make, as did you. Do you lack the integrity to make the choice he made? Or was it that you do not mind choosing to abandon so many of us?

Well, said Mr. Hobbs. Funny how Nancy Pelosi has more chichis than both Schumer and Jeffries. This would not have happened with Nancy.

How can we all help facilitate this good riddance to Schumer?

Unfortunately Schumer is not up for reelection until 2028. He may not opt to run again. If he does, there is a good chance AOC will run against him in the Democratic primaries. In this scenario, voting for AOC could take Schumer off the ballot. Meanwhile we can keep pressure on him to step aside. Though he didn't vote with Fetterman, Kaine and the other "moderate" Democratic senators to cave in on the vote to re-open government, he was not able to unite his Caucus in this very important vote.

Thank you so much for this SAM. Consequences- that word seems to ring somewhat hollow these days. How eight Senators could just ignore the evidence before them, as well as clearly what the people wanted, is something I cannot fathom.

These moderates have zero respect for the Dem base. The 2 from Nevada were against the shutdown since day 1 Fetterman is brain damaged, but I'm surprised /disappointed by the Maine Sen. & Tim Kaine....

I was disappointed in Tim Caine too. At one point after reading that Mark Kelly had said the shutdown had to end sometime I was worried he would be on as well. That really would have broken my heart.

With this cowardly capitulation, it has been made clear that the Democratic Party is as bad as the Republican Party. They are both enemies of the American people.

The eight apparently had more to gain by voting the way they did, than to stand firm with the rest of us. Let's figure out what that was and cut it off at the knees. K?

And if the feckless Dems can NOT even get Trumpf/Epstein file released then the whole Gosh damned thing is a catastrophe.

I would like to push back by saying all should watch the opening block of Lawrence O'Donnell program on MSNBC last night. Lawrence brought a perspective I think was helpful to understanding what took place. I have high regard for his perspective because he is a fierce critic of Felon 47. He also once worked in the Senate. I too am upset about the vote Sunday night but I feel less bitter after listening to Lawrence. We all have a long tough road ahead of us & we need to keep our eyes on the prize...removing not just Trump but all MAGA from office.

Lawrence O'Donnell is defending Schumer tonite in an incredible display of chutzpah. "The job is like herding cats". Maybe....but as Lawrence explained, George Mitchell was always able to keep discipline. Schumer could too...he. hooses not to.

Disagree. Watch Lawrence O'Donnell tonight. Unsubscribing. This doesn't help save America.

I am watching Lawrence now. I agree 100 with him. Donald Trump is not a politician. Never has been. He’s a spectacle, he’s a bully, he’s a miserable human being, but he is NOT a politician. The only way we are going to rid ourselves of this pusbag is releasing the Epstein files is what I really think.

I was furious on Sunday night when I heard the news…. but then did the adult thing and calmed down and tried to understand any logic of what Dems came away with.

Let’s face it, 🤡 and the Rs were going to let people continue starving…. Project 2025 advocated for it!!!

1) 42M people will now have SNAP reinstated through Sept next year and we avoid a hunger crisis.

2) Every person fired within the govt during the shutdown will get their jobs back.

3) Every essential worker that was working without pay will now get full back pay.

4) Rs will be forced to hang their hat on the H/C premium increases whether they vote in December or not….

5) 🤡 proved he was willing to starve his fellow Americans and Rs went right along with it.

Tim Kaine voted so his constituents from VA could go back to work

The ladies from NV voted so their state economy did not collapse due to air travel shutdowns (Vegas and its tourism IS Nevada!)

As someone stated before, watch Lawrence from last night. He laid out many of the conclusions I came to along with many more.

Dems fight for the people, Rs fight for themselves! It is proven over and over again. The momentum from last week is only lost if the MSM and other pundits sit around and cry out loud about this vote!! They need to STFU!!!

I have decided Tim Ryan should not run for governor of Ohio. He made a big mistake opening the door for Schumer.

explain Lisa....Schumer did NOT send Ryan resources needed to beat Vance. And here we are.

Ryan instigated the recall that gave us Schumer. THEN Ryan lost to Vance… hmmm…that was a fine thank you to Ryan, wasn’t it? Ryan replaced a guy who went to prison for corruption. Sounds like Traficant wasn’t the only corrupt dude.
